Underneath the Juniper Tree is a Gingerbread Castle

Underneath the Juniper Tree reprinted my short story Hannah, Gregory, and the Gingerbread Castle in their February issue.  (The story first appeared in a longer form in now-defunct New Zealand magazine Viola Beadleton’s Compendium.)  A modern-day Hansel and Gretel retelling, Hannah and Gregory run into the forest to save their father from mountain lions, bears, and bad directions.  They come upon the Gingerbread Castle and other things instead.

Read the entire issue here.  The art that goes with my particular story is by Jo Wu and features two button-eyed (Coraline!) dolls.
